This whole story line is one of the best that On Stage ever did -- I just read it last week!
It's especially fun because (in the weeks following this conversation) we get to see Mary be entertainingly mean without guilt; she's been more than thoroughly provoked and is completely justified, and she takes her revenge with skill and style.
